Drizzt reading order: where should you start?

For a first read, I’d start with Homeland if you want to understand Drizzt before you meet his companions. If you want the order in which readers first encountered him, start with The Crystal Shard.

Start with his early life

Homeland → Exile → Sojourn. Then move to The Crystal Shard and the rest of the Icewind Dale trilogy.

Start with the original releases

The Crystal Shard → Streams of Silver → The Halfling's Gem. Then read the Dark Elf trilogy, beginning with Homeland, to go back to his origins.

These are starting paths. You can compare dates for both trilogies in the series index.
